World of Drift - Competitive Drift Simulator (UE5)

World of Drift is an independently developed UE5 drift simulator featuring custom vehicle physics, PlayFab multiplayer with matchmaking, advanced scoring and replay systems, force-feedback wheel and controller support, split-screen and ghost modes, and procedural track-building tools.

I designed and implemented the project’s gameplay systems, multiplayer integration, vehicle behavior, UI, audio systems, technical-art pipeline, environments, and optimization.

The core game loop is Random Battle mode. Players are matched through PlayFab and compete on a randomized circuit, time of day, and weather condition. Each session includes practice, qualification runs, and a battle using a zone-based scoring system that tracks speed, angle, and proximity, supported by leaderboards and account statistics.

The custom audio system includes MetaSounds engine audio, surface-dependent tire sounds, environmental soundscapes, and a UI audio layer built with Common UI.

The replay system provides five camera modes, including free cameras, vehicle-attached drone cameras, and TV-style track cameras with physics-based movement and cinematic depth of field. Internal procedural tools generate new track layouts. The environment also supports dynamic weather, wind, and surface-dependent grip for wet and snowy conditions.

Currently in development: refined vehicle physics and tire model, a new car setup and telemetry UI, additional vehicles and tracks, and advanced VFX for tire smoke and rain.
